INTEL LAUNCH SECOND GENERATION BITCOIN MINING CHIP by E. Okorie, 5th of April , 2022
INTEL has launched a second generation bitcoin mining chip called Intel Blockscale ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit). The chip is aimed to provide energy efficiency and sustainability and with emphasis on maintaining a good environmental and social governance (ESG). According to Intel, each of the chips will have a hashrate of 580 gigahash per second (GH/s) and a Power efficiency 26 joules/terahash (J/TH) and support up to 256 integrated circuits. However, Intel intends to sell only the chips to prospective customer instead of shipping a fully-fledged mining system. Though the chips are highly customizable such that individuals can choose to use air-cooled heat management and/or liquid immersion cooling systems, novice in bitcoin mining may find the new technology a bit cumbersome to use compared with the simple bitmain antminers.
Furthermore, the chip is expected to be released on the third quarter of this year (July, 2022) and will be available for various companies who already have a pre-order.
